Soft Rock Songs

Throughout the 1970s, there were a variety of genres of rock and roll music that permeated the air waves.

They appealed to different kinds of people of different ages.

While hard rock tended to be a hit with young adults as well as those a little older, soft rock songs had a huge listening audience that generally included not only young adults, but many other people as well.

Indeed, the mellow sounds of the soft rock music hits appealed to a wide range of individuals.

This restrained style of music was dominated by the melody with subtle harmonies, played mostly by acoustic instruments including guitar and piano and sometimes synthesizer and orchestral instruments like strings or saxaphone.

The soft rock songs of the 70s also tended to be rather folksy in style and often spoke of love and relationships.

They made great “first dance” songs at weddings and were ideal for school proms and just about any tender moment.
